Teacher 9-12 for Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 275 West Greene Drive, Mosheim, TN 37818 Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Systems Teacher The role of the teacher: The teacher will instruct students in technical training to prepare them to re-enter the job market in the HVAC, plumbing, or electrical fields through lecture, demonstrations, and/or audio-visual aids. The focus for the Greene County instructor will be in HVAC and preparing students to become HVAC technicians. HVAC technicians install, maintain, and repair heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems. Heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers work on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) systems that control the temperature and air quality in buildings. There is a shortage of HVAC technicians in Greene County and surrounding counties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Designs program lessons and activities following the expectations of the five CTE Size, Scope and Quality Indicators (SSQI’s). Teaches academic and technical skills aligned to state standards in the assigned subject area that will be required for successful job performance. Facilitates activities that allow students to develop their employability and leadership skills emphasizing the importance of reliability, efficiency, promptness, good attitude, and thoughtful work habits. Collects and submits evidence, on an annual basis, showcasing that the program of study meets SSQI expectations. Communicate with parents, counselors, administrative and supervisory personnel and community representatives to share information regarding innovations and current job requirements and post-secondary opportunities in related fields. Collaborate with district staff and with the administrators at the school. Organizes and provides opportunities for students to participate in Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) activities as an integral part of the assigned subject area. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation. Develops and implement a comprehensive curriculum for the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing course. Conducts theory and practical the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing classes (HVAC) Assess and evaluate students’ skills and knowledge Ensures all students adhere to safety protocols and procedures Provides hands-on training in various techniques and processes Maintains and supervises the use of the equipment and tools Stay updated with the latest advancements in HVAC technology and practices Prepares students for HVAC certification exams Offers individualized guidance and support to students as needed Organizes and supervises lab sessions and practical projects Collaborates with industry professionals to enhance training programs Works with TCAT Morristown to provide students with dual enrollment opportunities. Facilitates workshops and additional training sessions as required Documents and track students’ progress and performance Ensures a clean and organized instructional environment Participates in PLC meetings as well as other professional development opportunities including in the content area of welding. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. Supports the program of study, using a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media/resources and technology. Serves as a model for the district’s mission, vision and goals. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so. Assists in budget preparation and in the selection of curriculum, books, instructional supplies, materials and equipment. Prepares students to enter the workforce with certifications. Maintains a standard of performance and conduct as required by state, law, local board of education and community expectations Assists in budget preparation and in the selection of curriculum, books, instructional supplies, materials and equipment. Licensure:
Occupational License required or will attend Educator prep to earn the occupational license, as well as state requirements for Cosmetology license.
