Fulltime Non-Exempt Reports to: V/P of Child Care Services

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the V/P and the Senior Program Director of Child Care, the Staffing and Compliance Specialist will be responsible for day to day staffing, and other programing needs for Child Care in accordance with the mission and policies of the YMCA of East Tennessee, Department of Human Services (DHS), and agencies as directed by programing needs. In addition, every position in the YMCA of East Tennessee is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the Y’s core values – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Requirements:
CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Handle the Day to Day staffing of floaters, call outs, time off coverage, etc. for child care sites. (Average 15 hours/wk.) . 2. Serves as HR Liaison for child care staff. (Average 10 hours/wk.) . a. Ensures all needed DHS related items are completed during onboarding and available for inspection per DHS guidelines. b. Assigns new staff to sites based on needs and availably. c. Tracks staff training hours and ensures DHS approved courses are available and assigned to staff for initial and CEU’s. 3. Serves as childcare CPR instructor. 4. Ensures all DHS training requirement and certifications are current and part of master HR file and child care management folders. Trainings include but not limited to; TNPAL, TrainTN, CPR, internal compliance, SDC, Etc.. (Average 5 hours/wk.) . 5. Manages DHS Portal. (Average 5 hours/wk.) . 6. Ability to help train at ASCC Back to School and SDC trainings. 7. Ability to fill-in for Site Director vacancies as well as front-line staff as needed. 8. Follows all Y policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. 9. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct supervisory role but may temporary supervise staff when filling in as a site director.

QUALIFICATIONS

: Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required. EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree with Bachelor’s preferred. Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a site director or similar position. Experience with grant use and administration preferred. Experience training other staff. Strong organizational and communication skills. Proficient with Google Suite Documents (docs and sheets), Microsoft Word & Excel, Publisher or similar program Willing to pursue Y-USA level training and appropriate certifications

REASONING ABILITIY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequently required to talk or hear (25 yards). Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit and use hands and fingers. Employee may occasionally be required to lift 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance (100 yards), color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups children and adults as well as employees of the organization.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, COURSES

Current Adult/Child CPR; required for hire and must maintain certification. First Aid; required for hire and must maintain certification. CRP Instructor Certification Required Redwoods Training Courses; required to complete within 30 days of hire, provided by the Y. New Employee Orientation; required before start, provided by the Y. Annual Training; must take part in minimum of 36 hours training annually. Additional training, licenses, and courses may be required throughout employment.
