Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher – Essex Junction, Vermont 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars Essex Junction, VT 05452 Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This full-time, contract teaching position is designed for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing fluent in ASL, supporting a 10th-grade student who is deaf/blind with significant medical needs. The role includes providing direct educational services and occasional homebound instruction throughout the school year. The assignment is at a K-12 school located in Vermont, with a focus on delivering tailored learning experiences in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for a student who is deaf/blind. Use American Sign Language fluently to facilitate communication and instruction. Collaborate with paraeducators, RBTs, CNAs, or LPNs who provide supervision and support. Provide homebound services at various points during the academic year as needed. Monitor and document student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet medical and educational needs. Participate in virtual, casual interviews and complete required onboarding processes including fingerprinting and contract signing.
Qualifications:
Valid Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) endorsement. Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). Experience working with students who have combined deaf/blindness and significant medical challenges. Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team within the school district. Willingness to provide some homebound instruction.
