Job Description
Essex Westford School District (EWSD) has an opportunity for a part-time Individual Assistant to join the team at Westford Elementary School. This position supports and supervises a student with intensive special needs in the morning preschool session. The hours are 7:15 to 11:00 AM Mon/Tue/Thur/Fri, with no classes on Wednesday (approximately 15 hours/week).
The position involves implementing the student’s individual educational program; assisting the student with self care, and with communicating with others using alternative or augmentative communication systems; playing a supportive role in assessing the progress and needs of the assigned student; and participate in developing and modifying individualized instructional materials and programs.
Position pays $22.43+/hour depending on experience.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
Experience working with children/adolescents Good working knowledge of children
Able to assist the student physically
Training/experience working with student who have intensive special needs desirable
Experience in a school setting preferred
Knowledge of special education students, and special education teaching methods preferred
Basic health care or nursing nurse’s aid training/experience preferred
