Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in one of the following fields: Human environmental science (with a concentration in early childhood development or child development) Early childhood education State of Alabama Teaching Certification Understanding of developmentally appropriate practice

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with the First Class Pre-K OSR program TeachGOLD Training and/or previous experience

Responsibilities:

Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the mission and goals of the Cornerstone Schools of Alabama as well as the Office of School Readiness Demonstrate and maintain a high level of competence and expertise in the teaching field and subject area Provide instruction for children, age 4, during the day, for the academic year, plus professional development days Provide for effective evaluation of the learning experience of each student utilizing Teaching Strategies TeachGOLD Maintain a classroom environment that meets the documented standards of the Office of School Readiness First Class Pre-K Guidelines Provide regular school-home communication and engage parents and families of the OSR First Class program Provide thoughtful planning and preparation throughout the scheduled day, including the required lesson planning and daily schedule Encourage appropriate behavior, utilizing appropriate classroom management skills Sustain consistent contact with OSR Regional and Coaching staff Maintain necessary attendance, scholastic, personnel, and submit them according to announced deadlines Comply with all requirements of the OSR First Class Pre-K Grant Demonstrate effective people skills, communication skills, and work ethic Assist with developing and managing the classroom budget in support of institutional goals and mission and the OSR standards for grant management Communicate with parents on program policies, children’s activities, and children’s progress Work with the Director in setting and implementing policies, goals, and the philosophy of Cornerstone Schools of Alabama Participate in professional development, compliance, performance excellence, and training activities as required
