Summary:
The Aide, Head Start, is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in the overall operation and activities of Head Start in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards.

Responsibilities:
Supports children in all activities, and assists when adult help is needed. Participates in daily, weekly, and long-range planning. Assists in the set-up, operation, and maintenance of instructional equipment and aids. Performs light custodial duties that relate to the safety and hygiene in the classroom and other environments accessed by the students under the direction of the teacher. Monitors student behavior using positive behavior supports and interventions in the classroom or lunchroom, on school grounds, and at off-campus activities under the direction of the teacher. Participates in ongoing student data collection. Participates in maintaining current records. Participates in parent involvement activities, including but not limited to maintaining/updating parent areas (e.g., bulletin boards), posting parent training and announcements, and assisting with parent/volunteer training in classroom. Establishes and maintains positive, professional communication among students, staff, and parents, as applicable per the direction of the teacher. Participates in ongoing professional development training. Performs any other duties as assigned. Experience:
One year of increasingly responsible experience in early childhood. Early childhood and bilingual experience preferred.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
Maintains an active Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Florida Department of Education Child Care Apprenticeship Certificate. Maintains certification in First Aid and CPR.
Language Skills:
Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Mathematical Skills:
Adds and subtracts two digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s. Performs these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Applies understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deals with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
Microsoft Office.
