Job Summary:

The On Call Classroom Teacher Substitute teaches and supervises students in the event that their regular teacher is unable to lead class due to attending professional learning.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform classroom teacher duties in the absence of the teacher who is attending professional development. Follow lesson plan provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment. Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each student. Supervise students in and out of the classroom including in the halls, on the playground, cafeteria and car line. Implement individual behavior plans as needed. Ensure and provide basic care giving duties (utilizing universal health and safety precautions) for children, including, but not limited to feeding children, and cleaning children’s hands, faces, etc. Assist in communication with therapists and members of the multi-disciplinary team. Maintain positive staff and parent interactions. Ensure compliance with requirements and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies. Perform other duties as assigned.
