DESCRIPTION POSITION
BUILDING
SUBSTITUTE JOB GOAL
The Building Substitute will support the general operation of the school by assisting where needed during the day. This includes covering for teachers who are absent from their classrooms for a portion of a day or the entire day to ensure proper supervision of students and that class assignments are conveyed per the wishes of the teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree Required; Bachelor’s Degree Preferred Experience working with children Ability to coordinate with and work as a member of a school building that includes Principal, Classroom Teachers, Special Educators, other building staff, related service personnel, clinicians and parents Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with classroom management in general and special education classrooms in the absence of the regular teacher Accurately implements content, instructional and performance modifications as designed by the classroom teacher Covers for teaching assistants as necessary to support students with special needs in accessing the curriculum. May cover for art, music, and physical education teachers who are absent. At the middle and high schools, may also cover for technology, FACS, and world language teachers who are absent. May accompany students on field trips. Greets students upon arrival to school, assists with student dismissal. May cover the front desk during secretary’s lunch or break. Attends staff and building meetings and three Professional Development days (two before the beginning of the school year and one during the school year) Performs other duties as delineated by Principal or other supervisor
