Part-time Substitute Teacher Miss Sugarman’s School for Extraordinary Children 617 Water Street, Gardiner, ME 04345 Seeking a part-time
SUBSTITUTE
teacher (4-20hours per week) to begin as soon as they are able to cover shifts this summer when staff are on vacation, sick leave, and/or maternity leave. We also will need coverage for a staff member going on maternity leave mid-October 2025 until December 22nd, M-F 2:30-5:30 p.m. Workshop days 11:30 a.m.

- Substitute Teachers will provide excellent care for all children.
Assist or independently implement daily activities and daily routines with teacher and/or director input. Maintain all certifications as required. Ensure compliance with all Maine Department of Health and Human Services rules and regulations. Required Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age: On their way to a High school diploma or equivalent. Two years experience working with school-age children in a home or center setting; Already has an Adult and Child CPR/First Aid Training Certificate which includes an in-person assessment OR is willing to complete the requirements before the end of August. They must have basic knowledge of safety and care practices for children birth to five and experience working with school-age children in a home or center setting.
Training Requirements:
Within the first 90 days of employment, staff must (According to Maine Child Care Licensing requirements):
- Adult and Child CPR/First Aid Training Certificate, including an in-person assessment.
- Complete the background check process: All childcare providers in Maine must request that all their employees have a background check.
- Complete a department-approved mandated reporter training.
