Job Summary:
Overbrook High School seeks a dedicated and organized individual to serve as the Alternative Instruction Room (AIR) Proctor. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and productive learning environment by supervising students assigned to in-school suspension, supporting their academic progress, and promoting positive behavior.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and monitor students assigned to ISS throughout the school day. Ensure students remain on task and adhere to behavioral expectations. Maintain a structured and quiet learning environment. Distribute and collect classwork and assignments provided by teachers. Communicate regularly with teachers and administrators regarding student behavior and progress. Keep accurate records of attendance, behavior, and assignments completed. Support restorative practices and encourage positive student choices. Enforce school rules, policies, and procedures consistently. Provide brief behavior check-ins or reflection opportunities as needed.
Qualifications:
State of New Jersey Substitute Certification Bachelor’s Degree and NJ State Teacher Certification in any Subject Area, grades 9-12 preferred. Experience working with high school students is preferred. Ability to manage classroom behavior and maintain a calm, respectful environment. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Familiarity with school procedures and academic expectations.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:20 AM – 12:20 PM Position follows the academic calendar; summer and holiday breaks off. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
