We are seeking to build a pool of Adjunct Faculty/Substitute Instructors for our evening programs. If you have solid work experience and applicable skills in the field of Heating Ventilation Air-conditioning/Refrigeration Technology, we invite you to consider sharing your kledge on a part-time basis. SUMMARY
The evening Heating Ventilation Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Instructor shall coordinate with the full-time program faculty and shall be directly responsible to the institution administration for effective performance of assigned responsibilities and duties. The instructor shall observe rules, policies, and regulations set forth by the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville (TCAT), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and the Council of Occupational Education (COE); and shall strive to promote and elevate the mission and philosophy of occupationalcation within the areas served. They shall keep abreast of industry standards and techniques, reviewing periodicals and industry magazinesmensurate to the course being taught. The instructor shall follow and maintain aplete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides to meetcational requirements and industry standards. They shall also oversee student conduct, motivation, safety, discipline, and appearance, addressing issues as they arise.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school graduate or the equivalent as determined by the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET)
EPA section 608 Universal Certification required.
3+ years of approved work experience in the occupation to be taught.
Valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree or diploma from an accredited technical training program in the related field.
3+ years technical teaching experience.
5+ years industry related experience.
Kledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labeling and policy.
OSHA 10 certification.
EPA Certified
Classroom experience and administrative experience in delivery of workforcecation andpetency-based training preferred.

KLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES

Kledge of the principles and practices of the industry and the ability to use the tools and equipment used in the occupation.
Kledge of the principles and methods of good teaching and supervision as evidenced by a rating ofcation and experience.
Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office programs and other basicputer software and skills needed for the teaching profession.
Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and to move about the teaching area to demonstrate and perform all occupational duties, with or without amodation.
Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships and to deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the public.
Strong customer service skills; effective oral and writtenmunication skills; and excellentanizational and planning skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure program aligns with all Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville (TCAT), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and Council of Occupational Education (COE) policy requirements.
Maintain kledge of industry trends and technological advances in the industry.
Maintain ananized, safe, and stable learning environment that is conducive to all (COE) accreditation requirements.
Follow lesson plans, implement active learning activities to amodate different learning styles, and teach industry skills andpetenciesmensurate to the course.
Utilize reliable formative and summative in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student achievement of coursepetencies.
Follow grading criteria and utilize Banner to record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily.
Distribute student syllabus at the beginning of the course to define coursepetencies, performance criteria, established approved grading prores and standards, attendance and class policies/prores, and other necessary information to students.
Teach worker ethics curriculum, interpersonal skills, post-secondary workforce skills, and soft skills within the standard industry framework.
Demonstrate amitment to student success by providing guidance and advice to students regarding program areas, course progress, and academic and disciplinary issues.
Coordinate all disciplinary issues with administration and student services coordinator.
Coordinate with Technology Foundations Instructor to scle student instruction times.
Promote program specific career technical studentanizations to all students (SkillsUSA, Student Government Association (SGA), etc.)
Provide work -based learning opportunities to all students.
Coordinate student career guidance options with Career Services Coordinator.
Conduct follow-up on employment of graduates and maintain follow-up records on former students.
Be responsible for and maintain inventory, control, and maintenance of all equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to the department’s classroom and lab. loss or damage immediately.
Coordinate the need for equipment, tools, and supplies with the instructor and make rmendations for items needed for the program.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Ad to the school calendar and daily class scle.
Start and end class at designated time.
Perform student surveys each trimester.
Participate in regularly scled staff climate surveys.
Check and respond to emails twice daily.
Attend staff meetings, as requested.
Work a maximum of 18 hours per week (non-exempt); additional hours must be approved in advance.
Other duties as defined by administration.
