Upper School Math Teacher (Grades 4-6) – Long-Term Substitute, Fall 2025 Episcopal School of Nashville Nashville, TN 37206 Episcopal School of Nashville (ESN) is seeking a warm, flexible, and engaging long-term substitute teacher to serve as the Upper School Math Teacher (Grades 4-6) during a maternity leave in Fall 2025. The substitute will work closely with the Upper School Division Lead and current faculty to maintain instructional continuity, provide student support, and uphold ESN’s values during the teacher’s absence.

Temporary long-term substitute position (Fall 2025; October until December 31st. Start and end dates flexible) This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping upper elementary and early middle-grade students develop strong math foundations in a community-centered, mission-driven environment. All curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials will be provided in advance. Support and guidance from ESN leadership and peers will be available throughout the duration of the contract. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Student Support Teach math to students in Grades 4, 5, and 6 using provided lesson plans and curricular materials Support student engagement, class discussions, and individual learning needs Provide informal progress updates and ensure students feel supported during the teacher’s absence Foster a respectful, inclusive, and curious classroom environment aligned with ESN’s Portrait of a Graduate Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with Upper School faculty and division leadership to ensure a smooth transition and consistent instruction Attend relevant team meetings as needed Communicate as necessary with families and staff to ensure transparency and student success Support a strong return transition plan as the full-time teacher resumes their role Qualifications Experience teaching or supporting students in upper elementary or middle grades (particularly in math) Ability to follow and implement existing curriculum and instructional plans Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills Flexible, reliable, and committed to student well-being and academic progress Alignment with Episcopal School of Nashville’s values and community-centered approach This is a temporary long-term substitute opportunity to make a meaningful impact during a period of transition and to support students and families through consistent, caring instruction.
