Position Summary
The Instructor is responsible for fostering student learning by providing high quality classroom instruction. The Instructor must strive for continuous improvement of the curriculum, learning activities, and instructional resources to ensure student success. In addition to instructional duties, the Instructor will also be fully involved in the institutional planning process and developing the goals and objectives of the assigned academic department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate and maintain a high level ofpetence and expertise in the teaching field or subject area. Develop, implement, and teach courses that are designed to meet individual student needs and ensure an effective learning experience.
Evaluate and record student performance and achievement in a timely manner and provide prompt feedback to students and the administration to assure learning oues are met.
Participate as a contributing faculty member of the College, including participating in planning long-range and short-term goals for the department and College, as well as maintaining regular office ours and participating in faculty meetings.
To perform these essential functions, the instructor must be present at work. Tfore, attendance is an essential function.
Qualifications
Minimum of master’s degree in physical therapy from a regionally accredited institution required. Minimum of 60 total hours of professional development or education inclusive of each of the following: educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation, and oue assessment OR the ability toe intopliance within 18 months of employment (required). Active, unencumbered Alabama Physical Therapy (PT) license required.
Active member of the American Physical Therapy Association preferred.
Minimum of five years (or equivalent), full-time, post-licensure experience that includes a minimum of three years (or equivalent) of full-time clinical experience within any United States jurisdiction required.
Experience in administration, management, and leadership. Experiences derived from the clinic are acceptable.
Experience in the classroom, lab, or clinical teaching experience required. Direct experience with PTA education is preferred.
Skilled in the use of instructional technologies to enhance learning and must be able to adapt to and incorporate new and emerging technologies. Experience with distance learning technology and practice is preferred.
