- To assist the special education services teacher in providing instructional and support services for maximum student achievement
- To assist teacher in planning and implementing learning experiences for pre-kindergarten students
- To assist teacher in developing a safe, healthy learning environment
- To assist teacher in providing small group instruction
- To assist teacher with preparation and organization of instructional materials
- To encourage involvement of the families of the students in the special education program
Qualifications:
1. Must be at least 19 years of age2. Must possess a high school diploma or GED3. Associate’s degree or 48 semester hours from an accredited college or a passing score on the ACT WorkKeys Assessment4. Must possess a Child Development Associate credential (CDA) or at least 9 credit hours of college coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a regionally accredited institution
Note:
Official transcripts of college coursework or a copy of the Child Development Associates (CDA) credential for all new auxiliary teachers must be submitted to the OSR no later than 30 days from hire date. Transcripts must be officially mailed directly to the OSR, sealed and unopened, or sent electronically to the OSR from the actual regionally accredited institution. All college coursework must be from an institution that has received regional accreditation.5. Appropriate experience (at least 12 months) working experience in Early Childhood or experience in other Office of School Readiness approved settings preferred6. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification /licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-4577. Ability and willingness to work in a highly demanding, stressful environment8. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication with students, parents and others9. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups10. Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member11. Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions12. Physical strength, agility, dexterity, acuity and mobility to perform job responsibilities13. Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information14. Ability to follow instructions and accept constructive feedback15. .Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance16. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
(Including, but not limited to, the following)1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities2. Provides one hundred eighty (180) days of childrens program and attends seven (7) days of pre/post planning and/or staff training3. Plan and coordinate regularly with classroom teachers as necessary4. Works with individuals and groups of students to reinforce learning of skills initially introduced by the teachers5. Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher6. Assists the teachers in preparing materials necessary for a positive learning environment7. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations8. Assists in fostering positive student attitudes toward citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism9. Takes all the necessary precautions to provide for the safety and welfare of others10. Attends and participate in individual, school, system, and state professional development activit es11. Maintains a cooperative working relationship with school staff, parents, and community12. Promotes good public relations for school system with the general public13. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters14. Be familiar with and follow Board of Education policies15. Assists in making any reports required by the Principal, Superintendent of Schools, or the Office of School Readiness16. Attends all training offered for a total of thirty (30) hours of professional development opportunities as provided by the Office of School Readiness (OSR) and the Fayette County School system17. Participates in the efficient and effective operation of the school as directed by the Principal18. Performs other related and appropriate duties as requested by the teachers, principal, and/or the Superintendent of Schools19. Uses effective collaboration skills to work as a productive team member20. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures21. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the principal and/or supervisor(s)
