SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTION AIDE

(ELEMENTARY) Opelika City Opelika, AL

QUALIFICATIONS

Associates Degree or the Equivalent or Passing Scores on a Work Keys Test Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations. Effective human relation skills. Professionalism, dedication, and flexibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform assigned duties as designated by the teacher, principal, and special education coordinator. Work with individuals and/or small groups to reinforce academic and behavioral skills introduced by the teacher. Perform clerical and record-keeping duties as assigned by the principal and teacher. Handle discipline as directed by the principal and teacher. Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials. Report to the teacher any concerns, problems, or relative information about students. Keep all information concerning school business, students, and personnel confidential. Observe students during activities, field trips, and/or community-based work experience, classroom activities, at home, and other school and community environments. Act as a support system to protect instructional time in the classroom. Take the initiative to carry out duties and responsibilities as they arise in an effort to assist the classroom teacher. Must be able to read and follow all academic and behavioral plans. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
