Mobile County Dates:
Summer Program runs June 2-July 25 for Foley, Kiwanis/Crichton, Malkove/Cody Road, Semmes, and Sonny Callahan/Theodore Clubs, and Camp Chandler-Tonsmeire. All other locations will end on July 18 (all sites will be closed the week of June 30
- July 4).
All staff will be required to attend paid training on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 9am-1pm at our Kiwanis Boys & Girls Club (712 Rice Street, Mobile). As available, staff may be asked to work some hours the week of May 27-30 to prepare Clubs for opening day.
HOURS:
Variable schedule, up to 40 hours/week (Clubs are open Monday through Friday between 7:30am
- 5:30pm) Work schedule may vary slightly at the discretion of the Branch Director.
Extra hours as needed for special events.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Temporary Seasonal Summer Program Assistant plans, implements and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, supporting our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship.
Specifically Focused Program Areas:
Membership Clerk :
The Membership Clerk; maintains accurate membership records and files; receives, logs and safeguards membership information and program fees; greets and directs club members and visitors; provides parents and visitors club informational flyers; answers phone and responds to callers questions; and, provides clerical support to club staff. Athletics/Recreation
- Club Programs include: Triple Play-Fitness, Baseball, Basketball, Golf, Volleyball, Track, Non-Traditional Sports
- Responsible for role-modeling and promoting healthy behaviors throughout Branch. Shall plan, publicize, organize and conduct instructional athletics activities, tournaments, games, leagues, fitness and special events. Games Room

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
High School diploma or GED. Background working with youth, in particular young people from under-served neighborhoods is desired. Relevant experience or education in an informal learning environment, such as, home schooling, Sunday school or competitive team situation. Experience with computers and various software programs. Effective interpersonal skills, including an ability to get along with people of diverse backgrounds and a talent for making people feel welcome. A passion for learning and helping others learn and a specific interest in the program area. Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics. Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities. Ability to deal effectively with members, including handling discipline problems. Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders. Valid State Driver’s License.
Environmental Conditions:
The employee is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Must be available for local field trips. Physical Requirements (in performance of essential functions): This position requires the activities of talking and hearing along with intermittent physical activities of stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, standing, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping and repetitive motion.
NOTE:
All candidates are required to undergo a criminal background check, child abuse review by AL Department of Human Resources and a pre-employment drug screen. Kiwanis/Crichton, Malkove/Cody Road, and Sonny Callahan/Theodore locations will also require fingerprinting, and a TB skin test and basic physical (no cost to applicant). Online training required before first day of work onsite.
