RETRACT INSTRUCTIONAL PARAPROFESSIONAL – VARIOUS SCHOOLS

Closing Date 09/01/2025 The duties include, but are not limited to: Works with individual teachers and students in devising sequences of educational experiences that may be expected to lead the students to achievement of their specified goals.
Assists the administration in implementing all the policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
Complies with the administrative policies and procedures of the school system and all state and federal regulations, in particular the Privacy Act.
Works with Resource Teacher and local school administration in implementing the RETRACT Center Program. Monitors student activities within the RETRACT Center.
Assists in collecting and organizing data relating to special student concerns.
Maintains student folders reflecting problems, cause/effect, activities, conferences, and follow-ups.
Promotes and maintains an effective environment for discipline.
Maintains accurate student records for the program and for evaluations.
Performs other tasks as may be required by the principal and resource person.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent and one of the following qualifications below: Successful completion of at least 48 semester hours of study at an institution of higher education that was appropriately accredited per the Alabama State Department of Education at the time the courses were taken; OR
An Associate’s Degree or higher documented on an official transcript from an institution of higher education that was appropriately accredited per the Alabama State Department of Education at the time the degree was earned; OR
A passing score of 3 or higher on the state-prescribed WorkKeys Assessments. The tests currently required are Applied Math, Work Place Documents and Business Writing. Official Transcripts and Score Reports documenting successful completion of all education requirements will be required prior to beginning work in the position. Additional Job Information •Applicants selected for classified positions must undergo (or have undergone) an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.•
