SUMMARY:

The Paraprofessional (Instructional), under the supervision of the Building Principal, is responsible for aiding and supporting teachers and other licensed personnel in the implementation of the instructional program and related services for identified scholars. The Paraprofessional’s (Instructional) primary responsibility is to work collaboratively with the teachers and licensed personnel to maximize safety, learning, and achievement for each identified and assigned scholar.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The Paraprofessional (Instructional) will be evaluated by the Building Principal, in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluation of Professional Personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned. Demonstrates relentless commitment to safety, learning, and academic achievement of all scholars by carrying out assigned responsibilities to contribute to the mission of the South Conway County School District Supervises students in a classroom setting during the regular teacher’s absence, ensuring a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment. Demonstrates effective customer service to all district patrons. Prepares instructional materials as directed by supervisor. Assumes responsibility for being prepared to perform instructional duties as prescribed. Assists with duties such as lunchroom, recess, or bus duty. Completes daily work schedules as assigned. Participates in staff meetings as directed by supervisor. Adheres to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning environment for students. Manages the classroom effectively to encourage students’ participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment. Observes and implements all school policies and procedures. Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students. Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

Must have an Associate’s Degree, 60 hours of college credit, or meet minimum qualifications on the paraprofessional examination; Pass all appropriate background checks.
