District Position Overview:
The Clarksville School District is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and dedicated 1:1 Paraprofessional to provide direct support to a student with specialized needs. This role is critical in helping the student access academic instruction, personal care, and social opportunities within the school environment. The position includes a $4,000 stipend for obtaining MITS certification, which will be fully supported through district-provided training.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support to a student with individualized needs throughout the school day. Assist with academic tasks under the direction of the classroom teacher and special education staff. Provide toileting and personal care assistance as needed. Monitor and supervise the student during transitions, lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times to ensure safety and support. Implement behavior support plans and maintain consistent routines. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to meet IEP goals and ensure consistent support. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Participate in MITS certification training and ongoing professional development as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required and passing score on state paraprofessional exam; or, Associate’s degree or 60 college hours preferred. Ability to lift and assist with student mobility if needed. Willingness to complete MITS certification (training and $4,000 stipend provided by the district). Experience working with students with disabilities is highly preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
