Job Summary:
The Assistant Football Coach / Spring Sport TBD / Science Teacher is responsible for supporting the academic and athletic development of students at the secondary level. This position combines classroom instruction in science with coaching responsibilities in football and a spring sport to be determined based on campus needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong instructional practice, leadership in athletic settings, and a commitment to student growth both on the field and in the classroom.
Essential Duties :
Athletic Coaching Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Football Coach in developing and implementing team strategies and practice plans. Lead position-specific instruction and participate in conditioning and strength training sessions. Coach a spring sport (to be determined based on applicant experience and program needs). Attend and assist with film review, scouting reports, and game-day operations. Participate in offseason programming including team camps, summer workouts, and skill development. Promote and model positive sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork among student-athletes. Monitor and support academic progress of student-athletes. Participate in athletic department events including fundraisers, booster club activities, and travel coordination. Drive a school bus for team transportation or be willing to obtain a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).
Classroom Teaching Responsibilities:
Teach science courses aligned with Arkansas academic standards and district-approved curriculum. Design and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners. Create a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes academic success and personal responsibility. Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and adjust instruction. Differentiate instruction for students with IEPs, 504 plans, English language learners, and gifted/talented students. Collaborate with teaching staff, instructional coaches, and support personnel to ensure student success. Maintain accurate student records and adhere to all school and district policies and procedures. Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other school events. Support campus-wide initiatives and contribute to a positive school culture. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Valid Arkansas teaching license or ability to obtain one Coaching experience in football and/or other sports preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to student achievement, integrity, and continuous improvement. CDL preferred or willingness to obtain one as required for athletic travel.
