CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

REQUIRED:

Valid Florida Driver License.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The tasks/competencies listed below represent most of the time spent working in this position. Supervisor may assign additional tasks within the scope of this classification as necessary. 1. Assist teacher(s) with the safe loading and unloading of children onto buses, cars, vans, etc. 2. Assist students in toileting and other personal hygiene activities. (This may include changing underclothing.) 3. Assist in lunchroom activities such as supervising the preparation for breakfast and/or lunch (hand washing, etc.); escorting the students to and from breakfast and/or lunch; helping students learn proper eating habits and table manners by modeling these behaviors. 4. Assist teacher(s) in various classroom activities such as participating with the teacher (s) as a team member in leading child-initiated activities; working on a one-to-one or small group basis with teacher directed assignments; assist the teacher(s) in maintaining positive behavior/child management; charting activities or some other form of individual observation; preparation of classroom materials. 5. Prepare classroom school materials using, but not limited to, the follow equipment: copy machine, laminator, computer/word processor 6. Read and tell stories to small groups. 7. Supervise and help with seat work and individual projects. 8. Help monitor pre- and post-tests that are administered to the children. 9. Assist teacher(s) in ordering, procuring, setting up, operating, and returning equipment. 10. Assist teacher(s) in maintaining files and records relevant to Title 1 Pre-K students’ work and interest. 11. Assist teacher(s) in distributing supplies. 12. Assist teacher(s) with reading and mathematics readiness skills.

OTHER DUTIES

Performs other duties as assigned commensurate with the skills and abilities of the position. Provides outstanding customer service and uses positive interpersonal communications skills. Makes all decisions and performs all tasks in accordance with Emma Jewel Charter Academy’s strategic plan, vision, and mission. Ensures compliance with Board Policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

Ability to relate to and inspire confidence in young children. Ability to work effectively with teachers, parents and your children. Willingness to attend in-service programs suggested by the VPK Director. Ability to operate or learn to operate a variety of school-related equipment such as computers, AV equipment and copy machines. Assist in planning and implementing instructional activities.
