This role provides support across multiple classrooms and age groups, assisting with daily routines, coverage for breaks, and creating a positive learning environment. The ideal candidate will also have experience in classroom behavior management. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive development. Duties Assist teachers across all classrooms by providing coverage during potty breaks, lunch breaks, planning time, and transitions. Step in as needed during challenging moments to offer short-term classroom & teacher support. Support students experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties by gently removing them from the environment and helping them calm down using age-appropriate strategies. Assist children in transitioning back into the classroom when they are ready. Help observe and identify behavior patterns or triggers for students showing signs of difficulty. Collaborate with teachers to suggest classroom strategies, calming tools, or visual supports that may assist in managing behaviors. Serve as a positive role model and helper in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and caring environment. Build strong, trusting relationships with children, staff, and families. Follow all licensing and safety requirements. Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a licensed early childhood education setting High School Diploma or equivalent Completion of the 45-hour DCF training is required CDA or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred Experience supporting children with behavioral challenges is required Familiarity with behavior support techniques, positive reinforcement, and sensory regulation tools Experience working collaboratively with teachers and support staff in a team-based environment RBT certification or prior experience in a behavior-focused role is a plus but not required If you are committed to educating young minds and creating an inclusive learning environment, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding position as a Preschool Assistant Teacher.
