Veteran Preference Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Passing score on the ParaPro Test.
Experience with pre-school children preferred.
Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) or Certification as Child Development Associate (CDA) by National Association of Young Children and a Staff Credential Verification from the Florida Department of Children and Families desirable.
Employer conducts background check, drug screening, and E-Verify.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge about child development and appropriate activities for young children.
Ability to relate to children and parents from a variety of backgrounds.
Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for pre-school students.

Willing to participate in District in-service programs.
Job Goal:
To assist the pre-kindergarten teacher in developing and implementing a developmentally appropriate program for young children.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with classroom learning activities.
- Supervise children inside and outside, including, but not limited to, bus duty, recess, field trips, classroom activities and lunchroom.
- Maintain accurate records, as assigned by the teacher.
- Assist with the preparation of materials for use in the program.
- Assist and maintain an orderly learning environment.
- Assist with identification of and attention to children’s health and hygiene.
- Assist in providing individual and small group instruction in learning activities.
Maintain strict confidentiality of student records and data. Participate in in-service training. Use interpersonal skills. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position. Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
