JOB DESCRIPTION JOB GOAL
Coordinate and perform specified job tasks that enhance the learning and fun of a quality pre-kindergarten program. The aide will help deliver the developmentally appropriate learning activities in coordination with the certified teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent and passing of Paraprofessional test or a minimum of 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution. One year of successful experience in a related area. Must be at least 19 years of age to work with elementary students. Eagerness to assist children in the learning process.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Technical/Professional Knowledge – Level of understanding and ability to work with 4-year old in a preschool setting. The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Aide will help the certified classroom teacher and CDA with the delivery of curricula for the appropriate age child. An understanding of and ability to work alongside of high school students in a VPK classroom. Ability to communicate effectively with 4-year olds. Ability to sit with and lift VPK students in an emergency situation. Ability to communicate effectively with school-based personnel, parents and the public.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the CDA and certified teacher in the delivery of age appropriate lessons and activities. Monitors the safety and well-being of the PreK classroom population. To provide clerical work in assisting with the delivery of age appropriate activities. Carryout established rules and procedures of the laboratory on a daily basis. To assist with the operation of the VPK program. Ensure adherence to good safety standards. Model and maintain high ethical standards. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities. Respond to inquiries in a timely manner. Report to the certified teacher any health or safety concerns immediately. Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of work and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
