Position Summary:
LiFT is seeking an experienced, innovative, and student-centered Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the Academy Director , this role plays a critical part in shaping the academic experience for all students. The Assistant Director will work closely with faculty to design and implement compelling, individualized learning strategies that help students overcome academic challenges, build confidence, and, wherever possible, work toward meeting age-appropriate grade-level expectations. This is both a strategic and hands-on role , ideal for an instructional leader who thrives in a collaborative, dynamic environment and is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of neurodiverse learners.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a key member of the school’s leadership team, contributing to the overall academic vision and strategic direction of LiFT. Collaborate with faculty to design, adapt, and refine instructional strategies and curriculum tailored to neurodiverse learners. Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development to teachers with a focus on differentiated instruction and inclusive practices. Stay informed of the latest research, innovations, and best practices in neurodiverse and special education, integrating them into LiFT’s teaching and learning strategies. Directly support and model instruction in classrooms as needed to guide implementation of best practices. Work with the Principal and academic leadership to develop school-wide academic goals, curricular improvements, and assessment strategies. Support the integration of educational technology and tools that enhance access and engagement for all students. Promote a school culture that values creativity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Social Work, or a related field. 7-9 years of relevant educational experience, ideally including experience with neurodiverse learners. Deep understanding of instructional strategies that support diverse learning needs. Excellent communication, coaching, and collaboration skills. Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and student-centered learning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field. Experience in instructional leadership, curriculum design, or teacher mentoring.
