Job Description

Primary Function:

The assistant teacher position includes duties such as supervising children’s activities; assisting the teacher with a variety of tasks such as planning activities, collecting documentation on children’s development and assessing their skills, providing individualized activities to special needs children; interacting with the children and preparation of reports, forms, and documents. The assistant teacher will also serve as bus monitor who will assure that all children are provided a safer and socially stimulating ride as they are transported to and from the center.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. •Must agree to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (a T.C.C. or Diploma is preferred) and a current First Aid/CPR card within the first year of employment.•May be required to provide own transportation in order to fulfill job responsibilities. May be required to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
