Assistant Teacher 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Atlanta, GA 30342 Summary The ideal candidate for the Infant or Toddler Assistant Teacher should be a high school graduate, at least 19 years of age, and have experience in an early childhood program. CPR and First Aid a plus, other training and background checks will be required upon hire. Candidates should be professionals who embrace working in a highly collaborative environment. Duties Teachers operate the classroom in compliance with all Georgia child care licensing standards. S/He ensures that child care routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with good child development principles. This includes routines related to diapering, hand washing, eating, napping and transitioning between activities and co-curricular classes. The position also ensures that parents receive adequate information about their child’s experiences at the school through daily contacts. A teacher provides daily care individually to each toddler, including but not limited to diapering as needed and scheduled feeding. The teacher also observes children to detect signs of illness, injury, emotional distress, or other special needs and report these signs immediately.
