Bilingual Montessori Teaching Assistant Afrocentric Montessori Atlanta, GA 30311 • Hybrid work Summary As a Montessori Teaching Assistant – Bilingual, you will support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children. Your core skills in classroom management and communication will be essential as you interact with students and facilitate their learning experiences. Proficiency in Spanish or French will enhance your ability to connect with diverse learners. Additionally, your experience in curriculum development and early childhood education will contribute to the effective implementation of Montessori principles, fostering children’s growth and development in a collaborative setting. Environment Preparation (7:30-8:00 AM) Prepare the classroom environment daily (put down chairs, change schedule) Complete Prepared Environment Checklist to ensure materials are complete and ready Maintain organization systems (work records, spelling sorts, homework sheets) Support weekly setup tasks (changing jobs, updating materials) Arrival and Greeting (8:00-8:30 AM) Warmly greet each child at the door Help children connect with work upon arrival Monitor snack setup and preparation Work Cycle Support (8:30-11:25 AM) Embody role as “protector of concentration” – serving as the “protector” continually maintaining the prepared environment Model appropriate behavior expectations Actively scan and monitor for work engagement Use a calm, credible tone to connect children with work Support children with reading materials and book selection Check work for quality and completion Administer spelling tests as scheduled Ensure bathroom facilities remain in good condition Classroom Management Assist children with restoring the environment between activities Support children during transitions Participate in community circles and group activities Monitor and support independent reading time Supervise children during lunch and recess periods Help maintain daily classroom routines and procedures End-of-Day Responsibilities Support children with packing up and departure Complete Afterschool Environment Checklist Prepare materials for the following day Restore environment to original condition Qualifications Fluency in Spanish or French (speaking, reading, and writing) Experience working with children ages 3-6 Montessori Assistant training or willingness to obtain certification Understanding of Montessori philosophy and prepared environment principles Excellent observation skills and attention to detail Ability to maintain a calm, patient demeanor Strong communication skills with both children and adults Capacity to work independently while following established systems Commitment to supporting children’s independence and concentration Special Skills Valued Experience preparing Montessori materials Knowledge of cultural curriculum development Background in supporting multilingual learning environments Understanding of child development principles Ability to model grace and courtesy
