Salary and benefits shall be paid according to system’s approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
All full-time employees (at least 24 hours per week on a continuing basis and employment must be expected to last at least nine months) are eligible for health insurance. All teachers employed in professionally certificated capacity, provided he or she works half
- time or more (but not less than 18 hours a week) and is not considered a temporary employee, emergency employee, or retired employee are eligible for health insurance.
Any non-Teacher Retirement System (TRS) eligible employee will have a FICA deduction.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree or higher or sixty semester hours of college credit from an accredited educational institution or passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment (Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators)
Valid Paraprofessional Certificate issued by Georgia Professional Standards Commission

JOB GOAL
To assist the teacher in the supervision and instruction of students by performing assigned tasks in support of a quality educational program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in preparing materials and equipment for direct instructional activity, including locating, copying, collating, distributing and /or grouping materials supporting instructional activities pre-planned by the teacher.
Schedules space for specialized instructional programs and coordinate the arrangement of equipment, desk, table, chairs, activity area and the like.
Examines short
- and long-term unit plans prepared by the teacher and anticipate the need for specific supplies and materials.
Follows appropriate training and lead small group activities planned by the teacher in an atmosphere where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
Assists the teacher in preparing for changing curriculum to meet the needs of students with diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, learning styles and special needs.
Maintains a clean and orderly environment for students.
Assists in the implementation of appropriate student behavior management techniques.
Manages time efficiently.
Provides student supervision as assigned.
Assists in maintaining the security of records, materials and equipment.
Assists the teacher in the enforcement of classroom rules and the maintenance of appropriate records.
Assists in assessing student progress as directed, including proctoring the administration of tests, grading papers and maintaining confidential records.
Assists in evaluating program effectiveness and seek and suggest ways of continuous improvement.
Assists as assigned in the collection of assessment data from a variety of sources and in compiling and organizing data for review by the teacher.
Assists the teacher in completing requirements for grade reporting, scheduling conferences and recording results.
Provides instructional assistance as planned or coordinated by the teacher or administrator.
Uses classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom environment.
Performs assigned clerical and bookkeeping duties.
Communicates effectively with the public, staff members, students, parents, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
Follows attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.
Ensures adherence to good safety standards.
Assists with lunch, snack, and feeding.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Medium Work:

Other physical demands: Some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, climbing, and balancing. Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling. Significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% standing, 30% walking, and 20% sitting. All employees are required to submit to a criminal record check.
