About the Role The Program & Helpline Assistant plays a crucial role in our mission — supporting the success of NAMI’s educational programs and the NAMI Georgia Resource and Helpline. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, empathetic, a strong team-player, and is excited to build lasting relationships within a growing nonprofit organization. Key Responsibilities Helpline Support o Maintain an up-to-date database of caller information and resources. Respond to resource-related emails o Assist with the Parity Navigator program, helping individuals understand and file insurance parity complaints. o Recruit and support Helpline volunteers; step in to assist when volunteers are unavailable. o Research and organize Georgia-based mental health resources to keep our information accurate and accessible. o Respond to calls and emails from individuals seeking mental health, housing, legal, and community resources, when needed. o Complete follow-up communications with individuals requesting assistance, when needed.

Program Assistance:

o Build and assemble training material packets for scheduled sessions o Package and ship program materials to participants o Maintain inventory of program and training supplies o Process invoices for program stipend requests o Assist with creating newsletters, social media content, and marketing materials. o Assist with program outreach and marketing o Maintain program tracking and data sheets, using Microsoft Excel o Respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner o Assist program staff with various projects and other duties assigned

What We’re Looking For Education:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field — OR — 3-5 years of related experience.

Experience and Skills:

A genuine passion for helping people and making a difference. Strong communication and active listening skills. Ability to stay calm and compassionate when helping callers in distress. Knowledge of mental health, developmental disabilities, and Georgia’s mental health system preferred. Experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges is a plus. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit. Comfortable with technology, especially Microsoft Office, and database systems like Excel. Why Join Us?
