Robins at the Museum of Aviation is a premier STEM Education Program. A premiere Department of Defense STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) program is seeking an energetic, caring, articulate professional to aid in our afterschool STEM mentoring program and teaching assistant for our 5th grade program. This person should have experience working with young middle school children in an after-school or out-of-school time setting as well as with adults, and is a high-energy problem-solver who models collaboration and compassion with adults and children. Ideal candidate should be knowledgeable about the use of technology in the classroom, be able to troubleshoot technology problems, and facilitate a STEM centered curriculum. Candidates should be comfortable leading adult and student training. This is a full-time, non-federal position The

Robins Teaching Assistant / Afterschool Facilitator helps the lead Instructor organize, prepare, co-teach, and manage the classrooms; implement and help instruct all

lessons, performing in a manner that inspires students and creates memorable, positive learning experiences. This position will also work with our
STARBASE 2.0
Afterschool program to facilitate learning. To teach our classes effectively, a Teaching Assistant / Facilitator must be enthusiastic about working with middle school children as well as a small professional staff. A team player and reliability are essential in this position.
Qualifications:
The
STARBASE
Teaching Assistant / Afterschool Facilitator is required to have a variety of education, skills, aptitudes, knowledge, and experiences.
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Two or more years of post-secondary education or an Associate’s degree is desired
- A basic understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) core concepts and educational best practices
- Experience in STEM curriculum instruction and content creation is a plus
- A talent for working with children and the ability to create an effective learning environment
- Ability to assist in calmly overseeing student behavior issues and assist with discipline problems
- Possess or willing to learn classroom management skills that foster a rich learning environment and that are flexible and highly adaptable to the unique aspects of individual classroom groups and individual student needs
- Easily adaptable and capable of learning new technologies (including software) quickly
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a positive, effective, and professional approach
- Excellent organizational, administrative, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and record-keeping abilities
- Ability and willingness to devote time as needed for quality communication and effective relationships with military personnel, teachers, school principals, parents, students, and volunteers
- Commitment to work actively toward the continuous improvement of education at
STARBASE
- Ability to work as a team member
- Be comfortable and flexible when coping with rapidly changing situations
- Must have or obtain CPR certification
- Must be drug-free and this position is subject to random drug testing
- Must pass a criminal background check

$40,000.00 – $44,000.00 per year
