Full Job Description Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and highly organized Child-Specific Aide to support a student in our self-contained classroom. This role requires an individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special needs, particularly in implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques and tracking behavioral data in accordance with the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). As a Child-Specific Aide, you will work closely with the classroom teacher and behavior specialist to assist in the implementation of IEP behavior intervention plans. You will track data on the student’s progress, provide reinforcement for appropriate behaviors, and help the student develop skills to reach their full potential in a structured, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement ABA-based Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) : Apply strategies from the student’s IEP to improve behavior and foster positive skill development, including positive reinforcement, prompting, and errorless teaching techniques.
Data Tracking :
Accurately record behavior data (frequency, duration, and intensity) as outlined in the student’s IEP. This includes documenting antecedents, behaviors, and consequences in real-time during classroom activities.
Support Classroom Activities :
Assist the teacher in creating a structured, positive, and engaging learning environment. Provide individualized support to the student during instructional and non-instructional activities. Collaborate with the
Team :
Work closely with the classroom teacher, behavior specialist, and other school personnel to ensure the consistent implementation of the student’s IEP goals. Participate in team meetings to review progress and adapt strategies as needed.
Monitor Student Progress :
Help track the student’s behavior, academic achievements, and social-emotional development. Provide regular updates and feedback to the teaching team based on collected data.
Promote Positive Social Skills :
Support the student in developing positive peer interactions and coping strategies in both structured and unstructured settings.
Qualifications:
Education :
High School Diploma required.
Experience :
Prior experience working with children with autism, special needs, or in a classroom setting is strongly preferred.
Skills :
Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and behavior intervention strategies . Experience with data collection and progress monitoring in educational settings. Strong communication skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members. Ability to remain calm and patient when managing challenging behaviors. Certifications (preferred but not required): Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or other relevant certifications in behavior analysis.
