184 days, the school year & professional development daysJOB DESCRIPTIONThe Kindergarten Paraprofessional will work closely with the classroom teacher to ensure the needs of all students in the classroom are being met. This includes academic, social, and emotional needs. It is expected that the Kindergarten Paraprofessional will assist the teacher with classroom set up, organization, and establishing classroom routines. The successful candidate will have some background and knowledge of early childhood education. The candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with teachers, other paraprofessionals, and service providers within the school to provide the best possible education for all students. Developing positive relationships with students and staff is at the core of what will make the candidate successful in this position.
This individual will work under the general supervision of the classroom teacher, building principal, and/or another designated administrator.
JOB REQUIRMENTSMinimum Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree preferredExperiences working with children in general and students with disabilities preferred.
Demonstrated ability to establish positive & supportive relationships with students.
Demonstrated ability to maintain student management and safety in all school settings.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student(s), family, and school information.
Demonstrated ability to provide academic instruction to students with educational disabilities and/or learning deficits. SALARY & BENEFITSPer agreement between the Georgetown School Committee and Georgetown Education Association.
Assignment to a position with specific classification. Movement from one classification to another classification within the district is at the discretion of the Building Principal.
OTHERThis position is eligible for the Town’s health insurance, contractual sick days & personal days and tuition reimbursement. EVALUTIONPerformance of this position will be evaluated annually in writing by the Principal and/or Special Education Coordinator with input from liaison and classroom teacher(s) as appropriate.
