Four Rivers Charter Public School is seeking an outstanding individual for a Teaching Assistant position. Four Rivers is college preparatory and has a clear mission of educating young people for lives of learning and service. Located in Greenfield, MA, Four Rivers enrolls 220 students in grades 7-12 and is in its twenty-first year of operation. In our dynamic, collaborative school, teaching assistants work closely with their colleagues, helping shape the culture of the school in accordance with the schools mission and EL Education practices of challenging, project-based learning. This position requires providing support to special education students in the general education classrooms as well as the Learning Center.

Qualifications:

Successful experience working with students, with experience working in schools preferred.

Personal qualities that exemplify the schools emphasis on character and community, including genuine interest in and connection with adolescents, eagerness to serve as an advisor, strong interpersonal skills, commitment to teamwork, and readiness to reflect and grow.

Appreciation for the Expeditionary Learning (EL) design model, and commitment to work with colleagues to support implementation of EL core practices.

Skills and competencies in the area of middle school math and science preferred.

Experience, training and interest in working with students who have a range of abilities within heterogeneously grouped classes, including students with learning differences and special needs.

Enthusiasm for the schools mission and its themes of nature, technology and community; understanding of the schools responsibilities as a charter public school; and the energy, flexibility, and sense of adventure required to work hard as a member of the core faculty in a young school.
