The Massachusetts School of Science, Creativity and Leadership5 Lowell Avenue, Winchester, MA 01890 (8 miles north of Boston) Job Duties & Key Responsibilities We seek a dynamic, innovative, and passionate full-time Kindergarten/First Grade Assistant Teacher. The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with faculty and staff to teach in support of the schools mission and curricular goals. The ideal candidate possesses creative problem-solving skills, a sense of humor, enthusiasm for designing innovative curriculum, is a self-starter with a can-do approach, and has strong interpersonal skills that allow them to cooperate and collaborate effectively with others.

The expectations for this position include: Collaborate with the lead teacher to support creating curricula, leveraging themes and essential questions as springboards for inventing interdisciplinary, project-based classroom learning. Work closely with the lead teacher to create and update Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) specific to each students needs and strengths that are centered around their literacy and social/emotional needs. Support the lead teacher with classroom observations, feedback, progress report writing, and family conferences throughout the year Support the use of differentiated instruction strategies to support gifted learners with diverse profilesincluding asynchronous development, sensory needs, and advanced cognitive abilities. Assist literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading, while supporting literacy-rich experiences and development in writing, communication, and social-emotional learning. Lead and/or co-lead small group math instruction, grounded in constructivist, inquiry based approaches. Proactively include STEAM-rich learning, interweaving technology and leading-edge scientific ideas, while leveraging colleagues who can extend and expand classroom dialogue and learning. Participate in the establishment and implementation of classroom procedures and routines to build a class community that centers around belonging. Assist in facilitating learning experiences rooted in engaging topics that offer deep response to students interests and foster deep engagement and authentic inquiry. After consulting the lead teacher, support a parent partnership educational model which communicates openly, honestly, and with compassion; share teaching philosophy and pedagogical beliefs to educate parents. Demonstrate a passion for lifelong learning by actively pursuing professional growth, engaging in reflection, and embracing feedback. Qualifications At least 3 years experience working with young children. Bachelors degree required A growth mindset and enthusiasm for ongoing learning and professional growth. Salary & Benefits $50,000 Health care benefits, Federal/State holidays off School year position, full time School-aged children of full time employees are able to attend Aceras after school program free of charge. School aged-children who independently apply for and are granted admission to Acera typically receive a financial aid stipend, capping annual tuition at $17,000/ year.
