As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll assist site leadership with day-to-day program operations, provide supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of children, develop and implement curriculum, and support the social development of our students. Hours:
7:00-9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday mornings; 3:00-6:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons; 12:00-6:00 pm on Wednesday afternoons; plus 2 flexible hours during the week for activities such as shopping/planning/meetings.

This includes 180 school days, 12 paid holidays, 5 days prior to the start of school, the day following the last day of school, and 2 days to be scheduled at the department’s discretion. Salary:
$27,052 – $31,009/year depending on education and experience
Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively with the team to provide high-quality before and after school care to elementary school students, placing emphasis on child safety and enjoyment of the program. Serves as an in-ratio educator and is actively engaged with students during program hours. Establishes strong relationships with children at the site. Assists in handling on-site emergencies regarding health and safety. Participates in bi-weekly site team meetings as well as professional development opportunities offered. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with families. Manages student behavior in an appropriate, positive, and consistent manner. Shows patience, compassion, and understanding to children. Promotes socio-emotional learning for students by providing support and guidance during interpersonal interactions. Recognizes problems which may interfere with student well-being and implements appropriate solutions. Supervises children throughout the afternoon, ensuring their safety. Enforces rules and program policies. Partners with Site Coordinator and Assistant Site Coordinator to develop and implement high-quality, diverse, age-appropriate, and enriching activities for students. Assists with snack preparation, service, and clean up. Maintains a safe and inviting site environment. Proactively assumes responsibility for classroom materials and equipment, ensuring they are clean and stored properly. Behaves in a manner that promotes a healthy and productive work environment for all staff. Follows DESE, program, and district policies and procedures and acts to ensure compliance. Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience working with school age children, particularly in a large-group setting, is a plus. Candidates must be able to perform the role of a teacher to young, active children. Employment offers are contingent on successful passing of a CORI and fingerprinting check. Staff must possess or obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification and complete training upon hire.
