LABBB serves students ages 3 to 22 years old with a variety of special needs including students on the autism spectrum, students with multi-handicaps, pervasive development disorders, developmental delays, language deficits and social/emotional challenges. About the role:

LABBB is hiring a Special Education Teacher Assistant to work with students with moderate intellectual and or neurological disorders. The classroom is a multi-grade substantially separate classroom located at Lexington High School in Lexington. Teacher Assistants support the implementation of lessons and activities to further students skill development associated with educational, functional, and therapeutic needs; provide individual and small group instruction under the supervision of the teacher; utilize and maintain a wide variety of technology and assistive communication devices for students; implement sensory, mobility, behavior, equipment, and self-care plans (including toileting, feeding, etc.) and facilitate interactions among students that provide opportunities for emotional, social, and cognitive growth. The person in this role is responsible for providing specialized support to help students engage in learning activities in a substantially separate classroom setting, general education inclusion settings, and within the community as well as assisting special education teachers and specialists throughout each school day.

Job Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred Experience working with children, young adults, or in human services related field, special education experience highly desirable. Willingness and experience working with students with a variety of disabilities with a focus on social emotional needs who potentially present with mild to moderate behaviors. Valid drivers license and ability to commute between buildings/programs during the day. Ability and willingness to drive LABBB van (as required by program) Working full time (35 hours per week), 11 months (school calendar plus required 4 weeks in summer

Responsibilities:

Assist with arrival and departure of students. Facilitate relationships with teachers and staff in the host school to support inclusion of our students into a variety of Watertown classes including CTE (Career Technical Education) classes. Under the supervision of licensed staff, assist in the implementation of appropriate data driven, culturally responsive instruction, and implementation of individual education plans and behavior intervention plans.

Follow schedule as assigned, including reassignments to different program locations as needed.

Prepare instructional materials as requested/directed by the teacher.

Support students’ development of independence, social awareness, language, academic skills and appropriate behavior.

Collect student data and provides it to members of the students team (teacher, transition counselor, related service provider)Effectively utilize any recommended adaptive equipment for individual students.

Communicate all significant occurrences to the appropriate supervisor in a respectful and timely manner.

Uphold LABBBs mission and core values as well as adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the field and contribute to a positive and safe school culture.

Support students’ development of independence, social awareness, language, academic skills and appropriate behavior.

Supervise students across educational settings including at lunch and in the community.

Salary Range:

$43,475 to $59,892, commensurate with experience and education. •2025-2026 Salary range is for school year and includes compensation for required 4-week summer program
