The 1 to 1 Paraprofessional will provide direct support for a student.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Actively participate in the educational program and help in classroom management, lesson planning, and recording of student data, as requested. Facilitate student’s travel from classroom activities and appointments by giving specific directions and monitoring independent travel. Participate in staff and /or unit meetings as appropriate. Monitor all activities to ensure the safety and well-being of students and inform the teacher of any problems, conflicts and/or issues. Work cooperatively with the team, including school administrators, teachers and related service providers to ensure that program activities are conducted in a safe and professional manner. Actively participate in program and professional development activities in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations. Work with students to implement program goals and objectives. Maintain professional standards and practices.
Assist students with daily behavior management and academic lessons and implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior.
Teamwork in the classroom to support academic instruction and implement behavior plans.
Implement lessons as directed by teachers, assist with independent work, projects, and lead small group lessons.
Provide behavior modification as directed by the teacher and BCBA.Participate in ongoing training to further develop skills and working knowledge.
Maintain professional conduct and appearance.
Maintain compliance with all school, district and DESE policies and proceduresCommunicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, families, and the public at large using exemplary written, verbal, and listening skills.
Maintain student confidentiality. Demonstrate conflict management skills by actively listening, finding solutions to problems, and working well with difficult people.
Support children in their daily routines, including mealtime and toiletingObserve and document children’s progress and behavior, and communicate with teacher, BCBA and or school adminPerform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Experience working with children in a diverse, multi-cultural academic setting
Terms:
182 school days, 7 hours paid per day, plus compensation for 10 holidaysTotal salary: $37,390
