The Randolph Public Schools has been approved as one of the first RTAP district’s in Massachusetts. Successful candidates will work full-time as a Special Education Paraprofessional while also completing a two-year, tuition free educator licensure program at Stonehill College. There will be one position each at Young Elementary School, North Randolph Elementary School and Randolph Community Middle School.

RTAP Program InformationRegistered Teacher Apprenticeship Programs (RTAPs) offer a new pathway to earn an Initial Teacher license in Massachusetts. RTAPs integrate on-the-job training with academic coursework, allowing participants to earn while they learn. This hands-on approach ensures that apprentices gain practical classroom experience under the supervision of experienced educators while simultaneously completing the requirements for Initial Teacher licensure in the specific area of PK-8 Moderate Disabilities. Acceptance into the RTAP program and the corresponding funding for tuition and other financial incentives is subject to grant funding.

Initial Licensure ProgramSuccessful applicants will receive a conditional acceptance. Applicants will then be directed to apply to Stonehill Colleges Graduate School of Educations PK-8 Moderate Disabilities licensure program. Application deadline is August 1, 2025.Compensation/Financial AssistanceSuccessful applicants who are accepted into the Licensure program listed above will have their RTAP employment confirmed by the district.

Position Information:

The Special Education Paraprofessional will work with the classroom teacher to provide support to students in their special education program. The paraprofessional will provide hands-on support as directed by the classroom teacher. The paraprofessional will assist with the basic academic and communication functions of students and will administer some basic life skills, including but not limited to changing and toileting.

Responsibilities include:

Providing academic support to students.

Providing assistance in the area of Adaptive Daily Living Skills.

Assisting in the collection of data to monitor academic progress.

Assisting in the creation of classroom activities and materials.

Accompanying students throughout the school day including lunch, specials, and transitions. Performs other related duties, as designated by the classroom teacher, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective classroom environment for students.

Provide support to students using knowledge attained through restraint training (e.g. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Safety Care).Support all classroom rituals and routines Support small group instruction Will keep written logs of attendance, meeting notes, program activities and key milestones that will get reported to the district on an ongoing basis.

Will be required to fill out multiple surveys to provide feedback for reporting to MA DESE.Other relevant duties as assigned
