  • SUMMARY
OF POSITION
  • The OJP Program Aide facilitates activities andengages in healthy and fun ways to ensure the physical safety, andemotional health of at-risk youth.

Daily data collection andparticipation in community events is required, while demonstratingprofessional and positive representation of Mikmaq Nation and The Boys &Girls Clubs of Border Towns. The OJP Program Aide also providesadministrative assistance to the Assistant Education Director andperforms tasks pertaining to project enrollment and participation.•

EDUCATION

EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE

):

  • High school diploma or GEDequivalent required with 2 years-experience organizing and facilitatingactivities for youth.
  • Will provide training to suitable candidate.
  • LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
  • Valid State of Maine drivers license.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES

(SKA)

REQUIRED
  • Excellent written andoral communication skills.

Knowledge and experience with Mikmaq culture.

Effective interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate withchildren and youth daily. Basic computer skills. The ability to workindependently and as part of a team.

  • WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Primarily on-site, with youth but may includetravel throughout Aroostook County to transport youth and attendcommunity events as necessary. Flexibility to go from one work conditionto another within the same day.
  • FUNCTIONS/TASKS
  • Implement and facilitate delinquency prevention program activities for at-risk youth
  • Create fun and engaging ideas to encourage youth to participate in the program
  • Utilizes resources to engage youth in fun and interesting ways
  • Ensure programs/activities address the members needs in their gender and cultural diversity
  • Complete data collection and other documentation while processing it according to daily protocol
  • Attend outreach functions to build relationships with the community, families and youth
  • Any other tasks deemed necessary to better the quality of the OJJDP program or the safety, health and welfare of the families and youth attending, as required by the Assistant Education Director
  • Maintain confidentiality about all aspects of youth and their families, staff performance, and written and oral records.

# EVALUATIONFeedback will be practiced on an on-going basis and the notes will beattached to your personnel file. Formal evaluations will be conducted ona semi-annual and annual basis, and are based on how one meets, exceeds,or fails at all those standards specified within this positiondescription.
