JOB SUMMARY
To assist in providing an appropriate well organized program for students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional duties may be assigned.
Assists teacher in:
Maintaining classroom organization. Managing students. Preparing teaching materials. Reinforcing previously taught materials as described by teacher. Implementing policies, rules and/or regulations. Implementing IEPs of assigned students. Adheres to district policies and departmental, building and classroom procedures. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students. Maintains confidentiality of information about students. Performs clerical responsibilities as assigned by the teacher. Meets or escorts students at designated times. Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by the teacher. Paraprofessionals assigned to individual students will meet the needs of the student as outlined in the I.E.P. Performs medical, educational, physical, behavioral, and personal care tasks requiring specialized training for assigned students. Critical needs status will be determined by the Director of Student Services and the Chief Academic Officer.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
60 hours of college credit and/or have passed the Paraprofessional Praxis (ParaPro Assessment) Experience with young people. Prior experience in a school setting is desired. Experience with educational applications (i.e., copying machine and computer skills) is desired.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrate organizational ability and attention to detail. Ability to provide assistance to the school community as necessary. Ability to work independently. Excellent human relation skills.
