ABOUT THE ROLE
The Teaching Assistant (TA) plays a vital role in ensuring a high-quality student experience in PHSU’s online learning environment, particularly supporting the Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) program. This individual serves as the first point of contact for students, triaging academic and administrative issues, maintaining a strong teaching and social presence in online forums, and escalating concerns as needed. The TA will also coordinate communications, support faculty with classroom-related tasks, and assist in scheduling events and clinical engagements in collaboration with the university’s partner hospitals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a teaching presence in online platforms by actively engaging in asynchronous discussions and responding promptly to student inquiries. Monitor and support student participation in online forums and course discussions. Triage student academic and administrative concerns and escalate when necessary. Act as Student Support Coordinator (SSC) for MSMS cohorts, ensuring students have timely access to resources and support. Coordinate with faculty to schedule clinical site visits, virtual events, and other learning opportunities. Provide general administrative support for faculty and academic programs. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in a health sciences-related field required. Prior experience in academic administration or student support preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with learning management systems (LMS) and digital communication tools. Highly organized, proactive, and committed to student success.
