Early Learning Collaborative Assistant Teacher/Instructional Assistant

JOB GOALS

To support the delivery of the Early Learning Collaborative written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
To ensure the reflection and communication of a positive image and attitude toward decisions and functions of the district as they relate to the public, staff, parents, and students.
To assist the classroom teacher in meeting the needs of students.

QUALIFICATIONS

Is highly qualified (AA degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field; OR Hold an Associate’s degree in any field AND a specialization in early childhood education (12 hours of early childhood college course credit, CDA, Montessori certificate, or other equivalent certification). Has knowledge of curriculum frameworks.
Has knowledge of reading, writing/literacy development.
Demonstrates proficiency in oral and written communication.
Displays ability to establish and maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents and the public.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO

Director of Early Childhood

PERFORMANCE RESPONBILITIES

under the supervision of a certified teacher:
Participates in district and school professional development.
Works directly with students, reinforcing skills previously taught by teacher.
Participate in analysis and interpretation of data to monitor student progress.
Comply with district policies and procedures.
Attends early childhood training.
Provides group instruction as prescribed by certified teachers.
Provides individualized instruction.
Demonstrates various instructional strategies.
Monitors work assigned by teacher.
Checks and corrects student’s work while in progress.
Keeps students on task.
Praises and reinforces achievement of students.
Reports student progress to teacher.
Maintains high standards, ethical behavior and confidentiality of student issues.
Exemplifies strong work ethics and professionalism (i.e promptness, attendance and professional dress).

OTHER DUTIES

Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

The salary and length of contract shall be established by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal or designee in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
