NATURE OF WORK
The EC preschool TA position would provide for the daily needs of children ages three to four years of age in addition to maintaining a clean, safe and healthy indoor and outdoor environment conducive to optimal growth and development of children.
An employee in this class shall obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with school bus certification, drive a school bus or activity bus to safely transport students to and from school, on field trips, and otherwise as assigned by the principal or designee.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED
Must have a minimum of 48 semester hours of general college credit, excluding cosmetology, nursing, and religion
Must possess and maintain a school bus driver’s license (CDL) or willing to obtain within 90 days of employment

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES

Reporting directly to the classroom teacher assigned
Assisting children with diapering, toileting and handwashing routines
Assisting children with mealtimes, rest times and other transitions during the day
Assisting children and parents with daily arrival and departure
Preparing the classroom for mealtimes, rest times and center play
Assisting with the daily maintenance of the program including, but not limited to, meal reporting, attendance reporting, accident reporting and daily care logs
Building trusting relationships with children and parents
Responding to children’s needs and wants
Supporting children’s learning through play and verbal interactions
Modeling good language and vocabulary skills for young children
Fostering social and emotional development
Performing housekeeping duties such as laundry, cleaning and disinfecting, and changing of linens
Sanitizing toys and play equipment
Keeping the classroom environment clean, safe, orderly andanized for learning
Ride buses and perform duties as a bus monitor
Performing other assigned duties necessary to maintain program quality and compliance
Assists in data collection and reports student progress to teacher
Obtains a CDL and drives school bus or activity bus.
Serves as substitute teacher.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children.
Working knowledge of the core subjects at the grade level to which employment assignment is made.
Some knowledge of the schoolanization and its community.
Knowledge and experience working with young children
CPR and First Aid certification is recommended
SIDS certification recommended
Willingness to work with colleagues to support the overall goals of the program
Skill in verbal and written communication
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Participate in appropriate staff development opportunities
Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
Ability to sit on the floor, crawl, stoop, bend, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, lift and walk
Ability to solve independently most minor problems.
Ability to follow minimally detailed written and oral instructions without constant supervision.
Ability to record and store data accurately.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information
Assists in ensuring that the facility is a safe, clean, and inviting learning and working environment.
Demonstrates professional and ethical behavior Maintains a valid CDL with school bus certification and is readily available to assist building administrators or other schools with transportation needs students

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to perform medium work exerting in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must meet the physical demands necessary to obtain and maintain a CDL
