The Assistant will play a vital role in fostering the success of the program by contributing to the Christian education and socio-emotional development of children in grades K-5. This position requires supporting students through effective instructional practices and behavior management in a student-centered environment that addresses the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs of K-5 students. Additionally, the After School Assistant is expected to serve as a supportive Christian leader within the community and their respective church. Education and /or Experience
- The candidate must have a high school diploma.
- Experience in developing and implementing after-school enrichment programs is desirable, though not mandatory.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English that aligns with the standards of a private Christian school setting is required.
- First Aid and CPR certification are mandatory.
- Participation in the Center’s Safe Sanctuary program is required.
- The candidate must successfully pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screening, and tuberculosis testing.
- Strong communication, supervisory, and fiscal management skills are essential.
- A valid North Carolina driver’s license is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate activities for students in the after-school program.
- Ensure prompt reporting and documentation of all injuries and incidents, following the guidelines outlined in the Safe Sanctuary program, to the After School Supervisor.
- Collaborate with staff members, the After School Supervisor, and the CCA Director to effectively deliver Christian-based programs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all program areas, including the care of church equipment and property.
- Foster clear and transparent communication with the After School Supervisor, CCA administration, staff, parents, church officials, and student families.
- Build rapport and establish positive relationships with fellow staff members and CCA administrators.
- Operate the church bus to safely transport students to and from the church.
- Design a range of educational, enrichment, and recreational activities that meet CCA standards.
- Prepare nutritious snacks for students on a daily basis.
- Lead and supervise fitness activities, monitor student behavior, oversee curriculum-related tasks, and manage daily housekeeping responsibilities.
- Maintain accurate contact information for direct communication.
- Utilize a media program as part of the daily agenda.
- Oversee the daily homework and tutoring center.
- Report all absences, no-shows, and behavioral concerns to the After School Supervisor.
- Monitor and adhere to the established work schedule diligently.
- Communicate organizational policies, procedures, and practices as outlined in the program handbook.
- Observe and assess student behavior, applying appropriate behavior management techniques, positive redirection, or corrective actions to promote positive behavior using restorative practices.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Organize and manage one week of summer camp, if offered.
- Uphold and affirm Center Church’s statement of faith.
- Attend and support CCA’s fundraising initiatives.
