STATEMENT A
Teaching Assistant (TA) provides vital support to classroom teachers, enhancing the learning environment and assisting students. TAs assist with lesson preparation, student supervision, and administrative tasks while also offering individualized support to students who need additional help. Through these activities the Teaching Assistant is essentially a full-time minister of the Christian faith and will support the CDS Statement of Faith, and the educational philosophy and objectives of Calvary Day School to students, faculty, and co-workers. This document provides a framework of qualifications, duties, and responsibilities to assure the orderly operation of an exemplary program at Calvary Day School.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Spiritual-teaching assistant shall- seek to be a role model in attitude, speech and actions with a consistent daily walk with JesusChrist. show by example the importance of Scripture memorization and study, prayer, witnessing, and unity in Christian fellowship. follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration. motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their faith. lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ. Essential Functions-The teaching assistant shall- Seek to promote positive self-esteem in each student. Use a variety of positive reinforcements in the classroom. Arrive punctually and with consistent attendance. Attend monthly (ALL STAFF) faculty meetings. Arrive promptly for morning and afternoon car duty as assigned by the administration. Become informed and have a knowledge of the curriculum. Continually seek additional knowledge in childhood education and development. Provide for small teacher/student groupings for interaction in the classroom. Assist the teacher in introducing the student into the classroom activities as they arrive at school each day. Anticipate and set out materials needed for centers/rotations. Aid in setting up the classroom daily. Assist in decorating the classroom, bulletin boards, and doors. Take daily attendance and lunch count. Check/grade papers and redistribute to students when asked. Assist the teacher in playground activities and bathroom supervision. Make copies and have them ready at least one day in advance. Drop off and pick up students from specials. Work with small groups of students. Help with any classroom emergencies such as an injured or sick child. Interact with parents to build relationships. Share ideas and be open to suggestions from the teacher. Willingly step in to substitute in the lead teacher’s absence. Willingly step in to substitute in another lower school classroom outside your assigned grade level. Help promote Calvary Day School in the church and community Willingly assume the responsibilities assigned by the teacher and principal.
