Job Summary:
Under general supervision, coordinates the activities of a departmental residency program.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent and five years of administrative and/or supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. Medical environment experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for coordinating all aspects of recruiting house staff, evaluating applicants and providing input. Coordinates evaluation process, maintains computerized database, and compiles summaries of evaluations for faculty. Prepares and distributes monthly on-call and rotation schedules for house staff and attendings, maintains vacation schedules, leaves of absence, and beeper assignments. Compiles records and statistical information pertinent to the house staff program and prepares preliminary recommendations based on compiled data. Independently composes reports and correspondence with decisions that tend to establish precedents and may commit a unit or superior to a course of action. Arranges, implements, and participates in conferences and committee meetings, as directed. Evaluates program for compliance with national medical guidelines, suggests improvements for the program as a whole and implements as appropriate. Prepares budgetary information and recommendations, and reconciles expenditures monthly. Provides authoritative information that tends to establish precedents and may commit a unit or superior to a policy or course of action. Directs or coordinates the work of a group of clerical employees necessary to carry out the program and assures deadlines are met. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
