Job Description

Substitute Teaching Assistant, Early Childhood Education Lab School 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 2100 Silas Creek Pky, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 The Substitute Teacher Assistant-Early Childhood Lab is responsible for planning and assisting the lead teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate program activities for preschool children and maintaining compliance with all program requirements for licensing and accreditation.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

A.A., A.S., or A.A.S. degree in education with hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Special Education.

Note:

Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC . Teaching and/or work experience in early childhood education. Have or obtain CPR and First Aid certification. Copy of current medical examination & Tuberculosis test results Complete the Criminal background process and Obtain a Qualifying Letter from the NC Division of Early Care and Education with approval to work in childcare in North Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications Preferred:

Two years of experience in a childcare facility. Essential Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assist with implementing activities to nurture and enhance all domains of child development. Provide responsive care and supervision to each child by adapting daily caregiving routines and plans to the interests and needs of each individual child and the group. Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for each child’s background by incorporating cultural, linguistic, and familial values and beliefs into the childcare program plans and activities. Assist with improving the classroom environment and playground to create opportunities to meet the needs of the developing child, Model appropriate practices for staff, students, parents, and children in all program components. Responsible for mentoring and coaching student teachers assigned to the lab school for observations, cooperative learning, and internships, Assist with maintaining accurate records for children and families enrolled in the center, including attendance, anecdotal notes, assessment profiles, and other program documents as assigned. Perform daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of each child. Report any symptoms of illnesses and/or child abuse to the coordinator. Assures a healthy, safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment for children. Assists with nutrition component and food service, Establish and maintain open communication with parents and lab school staff. Assist with encouraging and supporting parent participation in literacy resources and activities.
