Job Description

Essential Functions:

Complete all required IEP documentation as required by NC Policies Governing Services to Students with Disabilities within applicable timelines and compliance standards

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate EC Teacher Assistant to support students with exceptional needs in a classroom setting. The ideal candidate will assist the teacher in maintaining a positive and engaging learning environment while ensuring students receive the individualized support they need.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities. Provide direct support to students with exceptional needs, ensuring their academic and social development. Monitor student progress and behavior, offering guidance and encouragement. Help maintain a structured and inclusive classroom environment. Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and administrative tasks. Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and school staff regarding student needs and progress. Support students in developing independence and confidence in their learning.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree or 48 semester hours of college-level coursework preferred. Experience working with students with exceptional needs is a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff. Must pass background checks and meet school district requirements.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and special education strategies. Patience, empathy, and adaptability in working with diverse student needs. Ability to assist with behavioral management and student engagement techniques.
