Veterinary Assistant Instructor – Continuing Education (Part-time) 
Salary $20.00 Hourly Location Lenoir Community College 231 Hwy 58 South Kinston, NC Job Type Part-time Job Number 01415 Division Continuing Education Department Continuing Education-Main Campus (Dept) Opening Date 05/19/2025 Closing Date 6/5/2025 11:59 PM Eastern General Function The Veterinary Assistant Instructor will be passionate about animal sciences and provide quality instruction to program students through the use of seated, online, hybrid, and lab courses. The Instructor will provide learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course/program objectives and prepare students to be successful in the veterinary assisting industry. The Instructor must have a strong working knowledge of animal handling, animal anatomy and physiology, and veterinary assistant lab techniques. The Instructor should prepare students to be successful in obtaining third-party credentials such as TVMA. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience in the veterinary assisting field is required
Must possess effective listening and communication skills
Must be organized and detail-oriented
Teaching experience is preferred
Certified Veterinary Technician from an AVMA accredited program or TVMA with a current license and a minimum of two years of experience in a clinical setting is preferred
Working Conditions Typical classroom or online teaching environment
Frequent standing for 6 to 8 hours per day, withstanding frequent changes in temperature
Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, crouching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
Infrequent lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs. without assistance
Frequent travel between buildings on campus and infrequent travel to other campuses
Frequent listening to and talking with students and other faculty and staff members
Frequent sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse
Potential exposure to chemical and equipment hazards Essential Functions and Responsibilities The duties of the Veterinary Assistant Instructor include, but are not limited to: Assist students in hands-on learning in veterinary clinical procedures, office procedures, and animal care
Maintain a positive, professional, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning
Provide quality classroom and online instruction in anatomy and pharmacology as it relates to veterinary medicine
Teach pre-approved curriculum and lesson plans
Provide instruction to a diverse group of students
Monitor student progress and attendance
Assist students with technical skills in real-life scenarios
Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades and other paperwork in a timely manner
